Minutes of October 16, 2021, DTARC Meeting

The October monthly meeting was opened by President Dwayne Allen at 12:14 PM.  Introductions were made with nine members present and 1 guest.

The Treasurer’s Report was given by Treasurer, Jerry Boone.  He gave the balance in the club bank account.  Jerry also informed us that the club got the tax-exempt status.  Wade moved that the report be accepted, and the motion was seconded by Ken. All members voted in favor with none opposed.

Dwayne then asked the members to accept the secretary minutes from the last meeting of September 2021, which are posted on the website.  Betty moved to accept the minutes from last month and Ken seconded the motion.  All members voted in favor with none opposed.

Old Business:

There will be no tech classes offered yet, but General and Extra classes will start. The first Extra class will start today after our meeting.

New Business:

Ken brought up a discussion about getting more interest in the club.  Katie will head a PR Committee and she asked anyone else interested to help.

Dwayne informed us all that there was a possibility that we could lose the Sunny Divide Community Center building for our meetings as the status of the building with the Farm Bureau was in doubt.  The Farm Bureau is holding a meeting this evening to discuss the building and other issues and Dwayne, Katie and Wade will be attending.

There was a discussion about whether we should have a Christmas party or not.  Topics considered were who was in favor of a party, where and when it could be held, who would be able to attend, calling it a Christmas party versus a Holiday party, the decor, music and whether to hold it as a potluck.  It was eventually decided to hold our party during the ARRL Winter Field Day on January 29, 2022.  All members and their families will be invited to attend, and it will also be a public event for anyone interested in learning about ham radio.  The event will be publicized.

Our next meeting is Saturday, November 13 at noon at the Sunny Divide Community Center.  Bring your lunch if you want to.

It was motioned by Katie to close this meeting and seconded by Ken with a unanimous agreement by all.
